This journal cover is inspired by a richly decorated Parisian binding originally crafted from red morocco leather, featuring intricate filigree and golden pointellé. Created by an unknown Parisian workshop, it was designed to house the winter section of the Parisian Breviary, a book that guided Catholic liturgical rites throughout the year. The original binding has been preserved in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France since the Second Empire (1865–1870).
