“In this three-women show, three artists, Eman Hussein, Amany Mousa, and Yasmine Shash who use printmaking as their medium of choice, look at the possibilities that medium presents in an attempt to capture a certain physical, corporal, and intimate quality of their experience. Crossing the boundaries of the public and the private, the abstract and the embodied, and the mundane and the extraordinary, each artist expands the spectator’s expectation of what printmaking can and usually does. By using a medium that suggests solidity, clear lines, and a sculptural quality, the artists attempt to create a different notion of intimacy and how we see our bodies in relation to a city like Cairo, but also in relation to everyday situations, with family, friends and loved ones.”
